Star Wars

Mara Jade -- since All Media Types is not a fandom in the tagset, the nominator may wish to specify a sub-category. If not, she will remain under "Star Wars Legends."

Freeforms:

- Filk, Fan songs
- In-universe homework assignment, In-universe completed homework assignment

Can either of these pairs of tags be merged?

- paper doll
- trading cards
- papercraft

For these tags, I don't want to accept fanwork media that would require physical items. I know all of these have a way to work digitally - could these tags be edited to clarify (like "papercraft template(s)" or "trading card art")?

I will hold all of these until the end of the nominations period if I do not hear from the nominator(s).

Hi, I nominated papercraft but I had papercraft template(s) in mind, so I'm happy for you to change it!

I also noticed a typo in the Final Fantasy XV nominations. "Group: Luafreya Nox Fleuret/Noctis Lucis Caelum (FFXV)" should be "Group: Lunafreya Nox Fleuret/Noctis Lucis Caelum (FFXV)".

Hi! I nominated paper dolls and reading cards and intended them as digital art. For the cards I was thinking of cards for characters in the style of Pokémon or magic cards; for paper dolls I had in mind either a digital drawing of the character(s) plus various clothes with the little tabs on the side, or a drag and drop style game for people that know how to code that kind of thing. I have no preference on how you want to name the tags, just whatever makes most sense to you!

I nominated both filk and fansongs. I am fine with merging those because I see them as basically the same thing, but had split them because I know there are some people who don't - viewing filk as new lyrics written to an existing tune, and fansongs as being entirely new lyrics and music about a fannish topic. So I'm not really sure how to square that. I guess you could merge it into the canonical Filk tag and let people specify more detail in their optional details and DNWs, if they have strong feelings about it?

- Filk, Fan songs

I didn't nominate either of these but I would potentially offer and request. In general, filk can include completely original songs written and performed by filkers, but in this context I would assume that filk means something adapted from an existing song or with new words written to an existing tune, and that fan song means something with new and original words and music. I could see someone be willing to receive one but not both. For myself, I can write lyrics and sing, but not compose original music, so I would feel able to offer filk but not a fan song. Other people can say whether or not they have the same understanding, but to me they're different enough that they should stay separate. (If the nominator meant it the way I interpreted it, maybe fan song could be changed to "original fan song" for clarity?)

That's a really good point. I can and will offer fanworks that fit both those understandings of filk, but that's not the case for everybody who might want to offer or request them. So, as the tag nominator, I would now support keeping these two tags separate and clarifying fan song as "original fan song," if the moderator agrees.
